About Us
Our family business has been trading since 1673. Our modern German kitchens are of the highest quality and specification. We pride ourselves on our friendly, professional service and attention to detail all the way from design to installation.
OUR HISTORY
Our family business has grown steadily over ten generations. This impressive history began in 1673 with carpenter Michael Schmid who founded Möbel Schmid in Donzdorf, Baden Württemberg.
In 1964 Ferdinand Schmid and German Schmid and their sons Rolf, Adolf and Roland Schmid, expanded our retail business by joining the Europa Möbel Verbund. In 1979 Möbel Schmid left the city center of Donzdorf and opened a 4,000 square meter showroom on the outskirts of the town.
In 2000 Christof and Markus Schmid, both qualified interior designers and industrial engineers, took over responsibility for our business. In 2004 we became a partner of Contur Kitchens and in 2011 Küchenstudio Schmid was opened in Aalen.
In 2015 we brought our experience and our kitchens to the United Kingdom opening Schmid German Kitchens in Crouch End, London.

At Schmid German Kitchens we aim to make your kitchen design simple and hassle free.
Instead of a traditional showroom in London we can invite you to visit our own Contur kitchen at our home in Crouch End. You can see samples of all our fronts and worktops. We can also take you to see other kitchens that we have installed.
If you prefer we can visit you in your own home to discuss your kitchen ideas and work on a design. We provide expert advice and a professional service. We will work with you to develop your ideas and help you make your dream kitchen a reality.

INSTALLATION
Our kitchens are fitted by our own kitchen installer. He has many years of experience in kitchen installation and carpentry. He pays exceptional attention to detail and takes great care over his work using only the highest quality tools and equipment.
The most important task when installing our kitchens is levelling the kitchen units. Floors and walls are never perfectly aligned. Our installer will take time to ensure your units are properly levelled before moving onto the careful installation of other items including the worktop, appliances and splash back. The ensures your kitchen not only performs well but will also look exceptional for many years to come.
It usually takes between three and five days to fit a Contur kitchen. If you require we can also remove your old kitchen and carry out preparation work including plastering, plumbing and electrics.

Welcome to the KÜCHENSCHMIDE!
Naturally you will want to enjoy cooking in your new kitchen. In our selection of recipes Kate Booty-Schmid prepares simple and healthy dishes.
As a working mother of two, Kate has developed her very own tips and tricks, which she is happy to share with you. Local products are particularly important to Kate, as is cooking dishes Grandma used to make.
With a few simple steps the show kitchen in Möbel Schmid is transformed into a small TV studio, and the episodes are presented to you here every 4 weeks.

OUR PORTFOLIO
We recently installed a matt glass handleless kitchen in Crouch End, London. The door fronts are in lava black matt and the worktop is stainless steel.
The appliances are from Siemens and Gaggenau include an induction hob, two integrated ovens, and an integrated microwave. The extractor is from Falmec and fits discretely into the cupboard above the hob.
The upward opening wall units have integrated LED lighting to illuminate the worktop.
